About Marty Laidler
Originally from the North-East of England, Marty came to Australia in 2001 and circumnavigated his way around Australia in a 1977 Nissan Campervan.
After seeing many sights, Marty thought his photos didn’t do the wonderful landmarks justice and vowed to embark on a photography course in Melbourne on his return.
The learnings of that 35mm Slide Film course still hold value to this day and are the basis of all of Marty’s photographic styles.
After many years of perennially having a camera in hand and an absolute dedication to self-improvement Marty decided to turn a paid hobby into a full-time profession, quitting a comfortable corporate banking gig to set up a small photo studio in his house in Lower Plenty.
That has snow-balled to Marty custom fitting one of the largest and most modern photo studios in Melbourne. Welcome to Monty Studio 2.0
Away from the studio, Marty has lived in Banyule for over 15 years, has a wife and three wonderful and photogenic daughters (they have to be), enjoys playing golf at Heidelberg Golf Club and spending time at Lower Plenty Cricket Club..

The Studio
Although always a pipedream, this became a reality in late 2022 with the expert assistance of local builder Leigh Bowman who together with Marty, designed and built Monty Studio.
There are three main components, designed and built to satisfy almost all photographic needs, comprising multiple backdrops, 18 separate Wi-Fi controlled lights that allow colour and brightness to be simply controlled depending on the occasion.
The studio is welcoming to all, with easily accessible parking and bathrooms, non-strobe (flash) lighting to reduce the risk of photosensitive epilepsy and a quiet and private environment to make everyone feel at ease.
Alternatively you can have your favourite song played at full volume when you enter.. Just let us know.
Hope to see you all soon.

The Main Backdrop Area
Every photo studio needs a backdrop or two.. Monty Studio currently has three to choose from during any photo shoot, black, white or pink. The Main Backdrop Area is located on elegant laminate flooring and is the perfect relaxed place to jump in and out of the photo session and sit around watching family members getting their smiles on.
Behind this is a large brick wall (is it real?) that is a perfect grungy modern backdrop for video shoots or for larger groups photos. Measuring 25m² it is an impressive feature that stands out when you first enter Monty Studio.
The white backdrop doubles as a cinema screen for the 4K Projector, with booming speakers that rocks the walls, provides a great space to watch movies or conduct serious business presentations.

The Baby / Powder Room
A completely unique space, the extra wide infinity wall is the perfect product photography stage and also an ideal setup for pets and small people to be photographed up close and personal.
With a custom designed lighting arc and ceiling drop lights, it is a lovely warm and modern environment to capture the more delicate stars of the family.
This room, with its Hollywood Mirror is a nice and private Powder Room ensuring that everyone has a great space to look their best for their turn in front of the camera.
